Cheshire cat Smile hat

This is for adults I will make smaller sizes later. This was for my cousin for Christmas and she loved it, it was what she wanted. Note; I don't really count the Gauge.
Supplies:

• Super Saver Red heart yarn; Grape Fizz
• Crochet hook sized H (5.0mm)
• Tapestry needle for weaving in ends

Abbreviations:

• MR-Magic Ring
• ch- chain
• sl st- slip stitch
• SC- Single Crochet
• DC- Double Crochet
• HDC- Half Double Crochet
• TC- Treble Crochet
• DTC- Double Treble Crochet

Size Teen/Adult: Note CH 2 DOES NOT count as DC here and through out.

Hat:

Magic Ring, Chain 2, 9 DC in MR, join, ch 2.
Round 2: 2 DC in each stitch around, join, ch 2. (18 DC)
Round 3: 2 DC in first stitch (same as ch 2), DC next, repeat around, join, ch 2. (27 DC)
Round 4: 2 DC in first stitch, DC next 2, repeat around, join, ch 2. (36 DC)
Round 5: 2  DC in first stitch, DC next 3, repeat around, join, ch 2. (45 DC)
Round 6: 2 DC in first stitch, DC next 4, repeat around, join, ch 2. (54 DC)
Round 7: DC around. (54 DC)
Round 8: 2 DC in first stitch, DC next 8, repeat around, join, ch 2. (60 DC)
Round 9: 2 DC in first stitch, DC next 29, repeat around, join ch 2. (62 DC)
Round 10-16: DC around. (62 DC)
Round 17: ch 1, HDC around. (62 HDC)

Ears: Working in spiral, you might want to get a piece of yarn or whatever you choose to use as a marker so you will not loose your place.

Rnd 1: MR, ch1, sc in ring 6 times, pull tight, join SC into first SC (6)
Rnd 2: SC in same st (INC), sc in next 2 sts, 2sc in next st(INC), sc in next 2 sts, join  (8)
Rnd 3:SC in each st around, join  (8)
Rnd 4:SC in same st, sc in next st, *2sc in next st, sc in next st, repeat from * around, join (12)
Rnd 5:SC in each st around, join (12)
Rnd 6:SC in same st, sc in next 2 sts, *2sc, sc in next 2 sts, repeat from * around, join (16)
Rnd 7 – Rnd 9: SC, sc in each st around (16)
Fasten off and leave a long enough tail to sew.

Smile:

ch 33, sl st in 2nd ch from the hook, SC,HDC next 3, DC next 3, TC next 3, DTC next 10, TC next 3, DC next 3, HDC next 3, SC next, sl st next. Fasten off sew in ends, Cut a long BLACK piece of yarn to sew the mouth to the hat.
