D.I.Y Sugar Skulls

I finally made some sugar skulls and i am pretty happy how they turned out, I got the recipe here  http://candy.about.com/od/sugarcandy/r/Sugar-Cubes.htm
But here it is for you already;
These are my sugar cubes I made, I had a skull mold and I really love how they turned out.

Sugar Cubes are so easy to make at home! You can dye and flavor the sugar, then use candy molds to form it into fun shapes. This method is perfect for crafting sweet bites for birthday parties, baby or bridal showers, or holiday meals.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp water
  • Food coloring
  • 1/8 tsp flavoring (optional)
  • Plastic candy molds (shallower is better)

Preparation:

1. Place the sugar in a bowl, and add the water. Stir until all of the sugar is moistened.
2. If you want to add coloring and flavoring, add just a tiny bit of color and the flavoring, and stir everything together. If the color is not dark enough, continue to add a small amount and stir it in a bit at a time—it's better to be cautious than to add too much and have a color that's too dark. By the end, the sugar should have the texture of wet sand and clump together when you squeeze it in your palm. If it seems too dry, add a small spoonful of water at a time until you get a workable texture.
3. Use a spoon to heap the sugar into the mold's cavities and then firmly press it down into the mold. Make sure that you compact it well so that it holds together and takes the form of the mold well.
4. Once all the cavities are filled with packed sugar, use a brush or a pastry scraper to remove any excess wet sugar from the tops of the molds.
5. For the best results, the sugar should dry completely before being removed. You can let it sit out at room temperature, where it might take anywhere from an hour to overnight for the sugar to be set enough to remove—it depends on the consistency of the sugar you started with, the humidity, and the depth and size of the molds.
6. Alternately, if your molds are microwave-safe, you can microwave them for a short period of time to remove moisture from the sugar and speed the drying process. All microwave times will vary, but start with 25-30 seconds. Let the mold cool briefly after microwaving, then trying gently flipping out the sugar shapes. Adjust the microwaving and resting time as necessary to get the cleanest shapes upon removal from the molds.
7. After the shapes are removed, let them sit at room temperature to make sure they're perfectly dry all the way through. Sugar Cubes can be kept indefinitely in an airtight container at room temperature. They are fairly sturdy, but do be careful packaging them, as they are also brittle and can be scuffed or broken.

1700s - 1800s Fashion

I have always loved the old fashion in London it makes me feel oh I don't know make me feel like its me if that makes since lol.
And I love watching Sherlock Holmes the originals and the new movies, love the accent, the fashion and the era.

Sock monkey

I made a couple sock monkeys using two different videos on Youtube.com, these two I find are easy to go along with. I even crocheted them some dresses which they are removable

D.I.Y Rustic Picture Frame

I have no picture frames and no money for them so I made myself one and I love how it turned out.
Materials:
  • Glue gun and hot glue sticks
  • Cardboard
  • Siccors
  • Yarn or Wire
  • and your Picture
Here is what it will look like done, so on to making your very own rustic picture frame hope you have fun making your frame as much as I did.

  • You want to get a big piece of cardboard, preferably bigger than your picture(mine is an 8X10).

  • Then trace the outside of it and draw a design you would like your items to lay, in this case your bark or sticks (both). I like to draw my designs free handed but you can use a stencil or something else you prefer

  • Then cut the big pieces off first,  then cut by the lines of your picture frame.
  • To cut on the inside of the frame draw a circle and draw four squares inside the frame, and be sure to leave like a 1/4 inch from the inside line to the picture here is a picture for that,

  • Then you want to start hot gluing you items on, and keep glue them on in random places (no it does NOT have to be perfect) then go back and feel in the little places that look like you missed spots,

  • If you want to tape you picture on the back you can and if you still see cardboard thats ok you can either add more items to place over it or just leave it,

The tape is in the corner
Pointing at the cardboard showing
Add item
  • Then hot glue on a piece of yarn or whatever to hang it up with,

And you are done ^_^ you have your lovely rustic frame. Happy crafting!!
